Once you’ve had a book ghost written for you, what can you do with it? The possibilities are nearly endless! There are a whole host of different marketing ideas for which a book of your own is ideal.
Turning Your Book into Marketing Material
How about using one or more of these ideas to get the most bang from your book?
- Incentive – give away your book as an incentive for making a large purchase. For instance, if a customer buys a big package deal, you could throw in the book for free as a nice way of saying “Thank you for your order.”
- Autoresponder – take parts of each chapter and turn them into an email autoresponder sequence for visitors who opt-in to your subscriber list. This allows you to pay once but use the material twice.
- Blogging – Can’t think of a thing to blog about? Take excerpts from your book and use them to provide material for your blog. Chances are you will easily have enough to write a year’s worth of blog posts from a single book – if not more.
- Social Media – same thing applies for social media posts as for blogging; simply copy and paste small excerpts and use them to keep all your social media accounts effortlessly updated.
- Speaking Engagements – want to incentivize your database to attend a live speaking event? Promise them a signed copy of your book at the end of the conference. Or, you could use it as a purchase incentive (see #1 above) when you sell from the stage.
- Media Kit – want to get an interview on television or radio or in the newspaper? Send a copy of your book along with your media kit to get more attention. Plus, a book you’ve authored makes you an authority on any subject – and media outlets love interviewing authorities, especially if your book relates to a topical news story.
- Gifts – want to show your best customers how special they are? Your book – personally autographed – is a great gift for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, grand opening events and lots of other celebrations. With a stack of books in your office, you’ve always got a gift worth giving right at hand.
- White Papers – another way to repurpose chapters of your book is to turn them into white papers. All it takes is a bit of formatting, adding a nice header image and some pictures and voila! You’ve got a series of white papers to use as printed handouts or digital content for a membership site.
- Subscriber Freebie – also called a “pink spoon” or an “ethical bribe”, you need to offer something of value in exchange for website visitors becoming subscribers. Portions of your book can easily be turned into white papers, special reports or novellas that make a great freebie to entice subscribers and grow your database.
Ghost Writing is a Great Value
So, when you get a book ghost written for you, it serves many purposes – from establishing yourself as an authority to becoming a big business card no one will throw away. For a one-time cost, the book becomes all yours to use as a marketing tool over and over again. Now isn’t that a real bargain?
